Dear Babe,
Today you are 26 1/2 weeks old in the womb. You continue to move around in there, always a reassurance for your mama. As the days get ever closer to your arrival, I dream about what you will look like and who you will be. I cant wait to learn more about you! I want you to be able to read this someday and learn some things about what life was like out in this crazy world before you joined it outside my belly.
You have already been on several planes, when we flew with you at 8 weeks pregnant to California. You went from SanFrancisco all the way to Los Angeles on that trip and also attended your first pro baseball game. You must really like sports, because once you came back home to Michigan you went with mommy and daddy to your first Tigers game at 15 weeks. Not only have you attended baseball games, but we have a feeling you might enjoy football too, and because you are a Hoffman we think Michigan will be your team of choice. You have weathered the crowds at Michigan stadium twice with mommy and daddy now, so you are basically a die hard fan at this point. The added bonus, is that they won both games. I’ll say you were a little good luck charm. Something you should really know, is that daddy loves Michigan football. Not as much as He loves Jesus, mommy, you, friends and family, but its next up there on the list for sure. This means that you will probably have lots of Michigan clothing as you grow up, and the two games you went to this year, probably won’t be your last!
In just a few short months, you will come home from the hospital to our first little house. Mommy has loved this little fixer upper of a house and as we bring you here, making it your first home too, my love for this space will only grow. We have been busy dreaming and shopping for your room lately. A space dedicated fully to you! I can’t help but smile as I anticipate rocking you in our antique rocker and singing you to sleep. Whatever sleepless nights we fair together, will be worth it, just to spend more time with you. Don’t get me wrong, there will be days when you and I are both done with the crazy that we might face, but every bit of it will be worth it! Your little life is such a blessing already, I can only imagine how the blessing will grow as you do too.
Your daddy has been working away on projects for your arrival. This week he has been building a barn door for your nursery. Mommy is so excited about this door and I have a feeling that you will think its pretty great too! That is the thing about your daddy that I don’t want you to miss. He is a hard worker who loves really well. I already see that tender spot in his heart for you sweet child and I am really looking forward to watching that love grow!
You are loved beyond measure sweet one, you will always be loved. I’m so excited to meet you and show you this world; but somedays I want to keep you tucked safely inside forever. This world is not our forever home, there are some scary realities found here. I pray often that your heart will be soft to the work of the Holy spirit and that you will put your trust in Jesus like mommy and daddy have. The beautiful hope found in Him has the power to overcome the workings of evil. I know I won’t be able to shield you from all the pain and hardships here on earth, something I am already surrendering at the feet of Jesus; but I can and will pray for you as you grow. As your mama my desire is to train you well, love you well, send you out well. Your life is a gift, a precious gift little one. You are loved, so loved. Grow well today, big things are coming your way!
love always and forever,
your mama
