Hello!
Welcome to another week my friends! I hope your Monday has gone well, It has been a cloudy brisk one today in Michigan, but I will take this any day in December over icy roads and blizzard storms!
Tonight I am so excited to share my office transformation with you. I hope you enjoy this little tour, and walk away inspired to create in your own space. This transformation has been a lot of fun for me, and a lesson in patience for sure. The span of time that took place between the first picture you will see and the pictures to follow, is almost 4 years. This has been a marathon people, not a sprint.
If there is anything that you take away from this tour today, let it be grace. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to create your dream space in one go. If you have a vision for it, but the pieces aren’t falling into place, give it some time. Don’t throw in the towel too soon, you may discover that if you set it down for a bit and pick it back up refreshed and refocused; your creativity is still flowing, it just needed some time to breathe.
My vision for this room has changed 100 times over, but in the end, it turned out just how it was meant to be. It meets the standards of functionality and comfort that I was going for, so even if the chair I originally wanted didn’t make the cut, or the lighting fixture isn’t my dream come true, that’s OK. This little white house of mine, is constantly reshaping my ideas as it forces me to think outside the box not only with it’s unique structure but with the things we’ve inherited along the way.
So believe me when I say, give yourself grace.
OK, let’s get this tour started!
BEFORE:
Stunning right? Look at this beautiful office space in all of its before glory. When we closed on the house (almost 4 years ago, what?!?) it was to be occupied right away, so Chase moved in to our little fixer upper, while I slept comfortably in my parents house until our wedding day. I have affectionately referred to this space as Chase’s dorm room, but now I am happy to bid this original picture farewell, as we welcome in the new look.
AFTER:
When we first walked through this house, I fell in love with this little room right away. Located at the end of the hallway upstairs, I envisioned walking into one day and it looking something like this…
A target basket, some Ikea plants and a clearance lamp from TJ Max, added just the color and texture my desk needed.
I went with a Benjamin Moore revere pewter for the walls. It has just enough depth of color to give the space a cozy feel, without getting too dark. I really love this color, it is a great choice when looking for a neutral that can incorporate both grey and brown hues.
Cork board turned message board with a little bit of fabric, some twine and a few clothes pins.
Recovered thrifted stool, with clearance throw pillows.
Always good to throw in some inspiration, to remind you why you do what you do.
I found these metal letters 50% off at Hobby Lobby one day, and I knew just what I wanted to use them for. A power drill, repurposed pallet wood and some time later, my office had a name.
Well there you have it!
Thank you for stopping by today, I’m so grateful you came, and I would love to stay in touch. Please feel free to leave questions in the comments, I love brainstorming ideas and talking design!
Last thing Before you go, I need to give credit where credit is do. All of the “after” pictures in this post were taken by my brother Connor. He has such an eye for capturing the details of my design and I’m so grateful for his willingness to bless me in this way. His business website is coming soon, and when it is here, I’ll be sure to send you all his way!
Enjoy the last bit of your evening friends! See you soon!
